Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) has been around for about 30 years.  Two very clever guys; Richard Bandler (who trained us) and John Grinder worked out the easiest way to resolve problems, was to study the solution.  In doing so, they followed the successes of a number of esteemed therapists including Milton Erickson, Virginia Satir and the originator of Gestalt Therapy Fritz Perls and Abraham Maslow.

  • Neuro - refers to the way we communicate with ourselves and the wider world through the nervous system and our five senses
  • Linguistic - the patterns of language, verbal and non-verbal communication systems
  • Programming - we are programming ourselves on an ongoing basis and re-running and updating old programmes

My definition of all this is: we can be likened to a computer in that the information we need to live, communicate, bring meaning to our lives, have fun, cry, feel sad, feel afraid, succeed, fail, become motivated and so on is programmeable and changeable.  Therefore, we can change and improve anything once we know how.

In our practice we use the methodology of NLP to help our clients to make significant changes to the way they think, feel and act.  Essentially this technique if life changing and when used well the effects are dramatic.

We did our training in NLP with Paul McKenna Training and not only did we receive the best training we were trained by the Master himself Richard Bandler.  Since completing the training Leah Butler-Smith has gone on to Assist Paul McKenna in his seminars and a documentary about Hypnotherapy featured both Leah and Paul McKenna.

We are frequently asked if we can use the techniques in television programmes offering change work to the public.
